Eastern France - A TR in Pictures

Not planning to do a full TR with travel details, hotel info, restaurant info... but here is my Sept - Oct 2016 to eastern France in pictures:

https://goo.gl/photos/ZBogUC8BP1CRzXbu6

For some reason, the captions I've added do not display in Slideshow mode. To see the captions, you must click on the right arrow and manually proceed through the pictures. Not all pics have captions (they begin around picture 15 or so).

The first picture is a map of my itinerary/where I spent hotel nights. It doesn't include day trips from those locations. But, each city/town/village that I visited is noted on the first pic of that location.

Hope you enjoy!

Nice Pics! Interesting to see Colmar and Strasbourg in the fall (the only two of these towns I've visited, in the spring). I really loved Colmar.

Beautiful, beautiful pictures! Loved all the bright flowers, colors, vineyards, and especially the magnificent churches. Looks like a perfectly planned trip. Thanks for sharing! Have not done this area of France...so lovely.

Lovely pictures, joannyc^^
It reminds me that there are still so many corners of France that I haven't seen, though I've been living here for a long time.

Thanks for sharing your photos. They are beautiful. Of all the places you visited, which was your favorite?

Great pictures! Brought back good memories of visits to Annecy, Riquewihr and Nancy (one of my favorite French cities).
Thanks for posting.

Thanks very much everyone! Happy to read that you enjoyed them.

@Treesa, it is very difficult to pick just one of those locations. I enjoyed all of them. I guess Riquewhir... and Annecy... and Colmar were my top favorites. But, then there is Eguisheim's adorable back lanes and... Beaune and... LOL! It is just to hard to pick one favorite.

Lovely destinations, joannyc, you picked a nice contrast of places to visit. ( I have visited Alsace 3 times, it is so beautiful, but it must be time to try something new!)
I recall enjoying your photos of southern France, too.

Great photos - those places look so gorgeous and old. Here in NZ the oldest buildings are only about 150 years old
The carousels are absolutely lovely. Nothing like them here either.
How long did your trip take? From Paris which would be the best starting place? We are planning a Europe trip and I want to see some of the Alsace area.

@Adelaiden, TDudette, Caftefoddess, Tasmangirl and Irishface: Thanks so very much for your lovely compliments!

@Tasmangirl: If you want to see the Alsace region from Paris, I would imagine the fast train to Strasbourg would be the best route. Colmar is only a 30 min. train ride from Strasbourg. My trip was 32 days.

@Irishface: I normally don't do a typical TR. But, I am considering posting portions of the emails that I sent to friends and family while I was gone which is pretty much a "typical TR" but without hotel and restaurant names.

Thank you so much, joannyc, for another remarkable photo journal! I love the way you capture such a variety of things -- from the tiniest architectural detail to glorious distance shots, from engaging moments with local people through images of humans in stone or stained glass or whatever, and with the kind of mix of destinations that I seek when I plan my trips. I sincerely hope to walk in your footsteps someday! Special kudos for the shot of the pig on the carousel, and trust me, Fourviere is now very firmly on my destination wish list.

Never saw this the first time around, but just have to add my thanks for these great photos, especially Lyon, as I have wanted to go there, but there isn't a lot of variety of photos available. This looks like a great itinerary too. How long was your trip?

Kja, thanks so very much for your wonderful compliments!

The pig on the carousel.... LOL! Saw that tongue hanging out and just had to take that shot! Same with the lion on the Duke's tomb in Dijon!
