Easter Orthodox Easter is May 5
If anyone is travelling to Greece or any other Eastern Orthodox country, Easter is May 5. It is the most important holiday for Eastern Orthodox Christians and businesses typically close around this weekend.
Just f.y.i for anyone planning a trip to Greece at this time.

Dear Mae,
Nafplio is beautiful, enjoy. You should really try to see what Greek Easter is all about. People set off fireworks and celebrate saying "Christos Anesti" (Christ has risen)at the stroke of midnight on Easter.
It is like the 4th of July and a beautiful time to be in Greece.
You should try Monemvasia and some of the coastal towns on the Southern coast. Have fun and partake in some of the delicious Greek Easter treats.

Just to say, I have visited the Peloponnese many times and loved Monemvasia and also the Mani (both Deep Mani and Outer Mani). If you want to book ahead - which will be necessary in the old town of Monemvasia, definitely - I recommend the Ardamis Hotel (Monemvasia) and Londas Tower (Areopolis). You can see my reviews and pics of these hotels on:
http://www.i-escape.com/hotel.php?hotel_key=GR015
and:
http://www.i-escape.com/hotel.php?hotel_key=GR016

Have fun and kalo pascha!
PS Take some earplugs as there will be lots of fireworks at night!
