Easter in Puglia
We have a 8-9 days free in the middle of April, and we are considering visiting Puglia, one of the few areas in Italy we haven't been to. Easter Sunday falls right in the middle of this period.
Can any of the Puglia experts give me an idea of whether it's a good idea to visit Puglia over Easter weekend, and if so, where's the best place to be during the weekend? Several years back, we vere in Sorrento over Easter weekend. It turned out to be very interesting.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Puglia is another one of Italy's great regions.
We haven't spent enough time there - but the time we did spend there we loved. We have to return soon.
Like Bob says, the spring flowers in the fields are wonderful.
Otranto is an interesting base. You can see our trip video here:

Easter brings the local kids home from school and young adults home from the city so the towns will be lively.

I was in Puglia this Spring..poppies galore but I was not there over Easter so I cant comment on what might be happening (or not happening) during this time. It is an absolutely beautiful part of the world. We spent several days in Lecce and that might work well as a base. I dont like mentioning travel agents but I will in this case as he is local and very knowlegable- Andrea at Salentotime..website salentotime.it

I was in Puglia just before Easter last year, staying in Molfetta and visiting nearby towns. Many towns in the region haved special processions of statues and the like for lent, holy week, and Easter. At the time I found a brochure of local sights with different events in the region.
