easiest car rental location in Rome

I'm renting a car from Rome to Florence. Where is the best place to pick up a car rental in Rome (without having to drive in the city).

In Rome, I suggest the airport.

You could also train to Orvieto or Chiusi and get the car there.

May I ask why you are renting a car to go from Rome to Florence?

We are planning to travel through Tuscany while stopping at Assisi.

Assisi is actually in Umbria, not Tuscany. And it's not well-placed for touring Tuscany, even southern Tuscany. However, there are some nice towns in Umbria. Do a search or repost if you'd like suggestions.

I suggest taking the train to Orvieto. Rent the car and leave it at the rental agency with your luggage.

Visit Orvieto, and then drive to Assisi (1:30 hr).

Enjoy your visit.
