E-mails Italy and Paris

Extremely frustrated! Have sent e-mails to various sites and hotels only to have them returned as "unable to locate". These are supposedly up to date postings from guide book and internet resources.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Much appreciated

Yes ... use fax if possible or give them a call. I find, quite often, e-mail to be quite unreliable, for whatever reasons. (Among them ... so many resources are out-of-date before publication, and small hotels, like people, change I'net suppliers often, seemingly.

If you're contacting a small hotel they may not reply (fax or e-mail) if they're already full. Delay in response is probably a good reason to make a phone call.

Some helpful hints on using the Internet for hotel bookings in www.twenj.com/tipshotels.htm

Good luck and happy travels,

Ed

I recently returned from Paris and had booked a hotel thru email. I emailed approximately 10 hotels and five responded. Not sure why you are not having any luck. It has been very successful for me over the last two years.

Golly, Fran ... I don't know whether I'd consider a 50% response rate particularly successful.

Which hotels?
Maybe some of us have more updated addresses.

I travel all over the world and look at things very positively. Fifty percent response is good in my opinion as I see the glass half full. When you've traveled as much, you will realize the internet is not as common as it is in the States.

Hi
I'd fax them or call. When you call, time it to reach the hotel during the day shift so you will almost always reach a reservationist who speaks English. If you fax, allow a couple of days for a response.
