E-Mail to Mr. Kerouac...!!!!!!

I want to say that you are making a wonderful job on this forum...and you help a lot of people with your beautiful pictures...I want to ask you a big favor for myself and all future travelers...why not take a visit on a sunny day with your camera to Denfert-Rochereau and walk up to Avenue Du General Leclerc, then turn right on Rue Daguerre and keep walking down to RUe De La Gaite then go over to RUe Du Maine and back to Edgar Quinet area...this area doesn't get as much attention as the other areas in Paris on any forum...this area have countless affortable hotels and lots of reasonably priced wonderful restaurants...a great open outdoor street market and plenty of shopping...I think this is a great area to stay for travelers coming to Paris..

I just spent a month in Paris this past summer in this area...I took 2200 hundred pictures but unfortunately my computer died and all the pictures are lost...it would be greatly appreciated if you can visit there and take some pictures of the area with some comments about it...
Thank you....
(Google street map is 5 years old...lots of the sites and pictures do not exist anymore)

It's true that it is a very nice area, to which I would also add rue Raymond Losserand. The 14th arrondissement is overlooked by many North American visitors who think it is "too far" from their interests. They don't know what they're missing.

Malelion55 - You are spot on with your compliment to Kerouac! He is indeed one of the most reliable sources for information of any discription about Paris and France.
I too have visited the area mentioned more than 4 times and think rue Daguerre and surrounding area is wonderful!
Most folks just go straight to the Catacombes and never even know there are lovely shops and new discoveries in the 14th.
For those who do not know - Rue Daguerre is just like Rue Cler so if you want a nice change, take a PEEK!

I have to add my appreciation for all of your posts. I am planning a month long adventure in Paris with an "untouristy" teenager and have been scouring the forums for both interesting ideas and practical information. Your fashion photos, airport/RER/subway guides and off the beaten track neighborhood peeks are invaluable. PLEASE keep it going, ha.
Thanks!

Yes, rue Daguerre is another treasure of the 14th arrondissement.

Should I drag out my tired old post about when I once helped to run a café in the 14th? Okay, here it is, for those who missed it...

If you go to rue Daguerre, you will probably catch a glimpse of its most famous resident, Agnès Varda. You will recognize her immediately if you have seen this fantastic film:

Really enjoyed reding that 'K2'.

I am a bit of a fatalist and believe that things happen for a reason - such as my reading of your cafe adventure at this time, when I am seriously considering a career change and entering the culinary world in some form, even though I am successful and comfortable in another office-environment industry. It would be a big trade-off, but more intrinsic satisfaction. We'll see.

Thanks for the link, and I too enjoy your postings.

I am in Paris at an apartment where I stayed less than two years ago. The two neighborhood cafes I enjoyed last time are both gone. One is now a lighting store. The other is a new restaurant that I have been to a couple times and it seems to be doing very well. Tonight I went to another neighborhood cafe around the corner that just opened a few months ago. Spent the evening chatting with the owner, and I hope she makes a go of it, but it does seem to be a business that has a high risk of failure.

Kerouac, I recentlt met Agnes Varda at Harvard U. at a reception for her after a screening. She is petite and colorful.
We had a chat about Noirmoutier where I once stayed.
One of my favorite French films was filmed there.
Ceasar and Rosalie.
