I have successfully found cyber cafes in Lauterbrunnen (Switzerland), Vienna and Munich. The approach is usually to buy something to drink every so often. In other cases, you pay by the time period.
I set up a yahoo mail account just to be sure I could access it from just about anywhere.
My business email account was set up for a period of time to forward everything to Yahoo. Access was not a problem.
One problem you might run into it this: Instructions on the screen are in the language of the country you are in. In read enough German to battle through it, but the keyboard with the z and y keys reversed, plus all the umlaut letters and other symbols, was something of a challenge. I wrote zahoo a few times, and zello.
