Duoro solo

I am planning a solo trip to Portugal. I plan to start in Porto and then head straight to Sintra for 2 nights, the. Head north to the Duoro Valley. I am looking for suggestions for this x I won’t have a car. I know there is a train which is how I will travel from Porto. Has anyone stayed close to one of the train stations? I am looking for accommodations at around $200-250. I will take a short cruise and visit some wineries. Is there any other activity? Thanks so much.

We traveled by public transport to the Douro and stayed in Pinhão for three nights. Details can be found here, beginning at post #40, which may or may not help.

I left my liver in Lisbon

PS - If it were me, I'd head from Porto to Douro and then towards Lisbon and Sintra to avoid backtracking.

Like Melnq8, I wonder if your route could be improved -- Sintra is much closer to Lisbon than to Porto. If you are skipping Lisbon, note that you can take public transportation from Lisbon's airport to Sintra.

I got lost in Lavaux among the terraces! Your report brought back some good (?) memories. After reading your report, I am reconsidering this stop. Although I would love to see the valley again, it seems it might be difficult to navigate without a car.
