I've just come back from a wonderful five days in Dubrovnik for which this forum proved invaluable. I wanted to pass along a warning about the audio tour walking the city walls. There are various points at which one can climb down from the walls - if you do so, be very careful about relinquishing the head phones. We climbed down by the marina for an icecream stop and found a young man waiting at the bottom of the steps who insisted on collecting the headphones but assured us he would return them when we resumed our walk. |He couldn't give us a claim ticket and when we returned 15 minutes later, a new young man was in his place who laughed and shrugged at our request for the headphones. Long story but we did finally locate the first guy who very relucantly returned a set to us - which turned out to be in Spanish....the woman at the initial rental place was horrified at this story and immediately refunded our costs but the pont was, we ended up walking half way around the walls without benefit of something we'd rented....a small incident but funny how it rankled.
