Dublin to Killarney

Anyone know how far it is mileage wise? Can I make it in a day? Is it a good weekend trip or too far?

The Irish Tourism website (www.ireland.travel.ie) has a route planner which I've used before -- similar to Expedia's driving directions: you put in your starting point and one or more destinations and a route planner with roads and approx. driving times pops up. Of course, their time estimates won't take into account your degree of familiarity with driving in Ireland, especially if it's your first time! I would think this is an easy weekend trip, however, just don't remember the exact driving times.

It is about 190 miles from Dublin to Killarney. It takes about 5 hours normally but less if you leave before 7am and a lot longer if you travel on Friday afternoon

I agree with Lillie. We made the trip in approximately 5.5 hours, leaving Dublin around 11a.m. Killarney is nice. Muckross House was a lovely tour. The ring of Kerry drive will take most of a day because of stops to really soak in the scenery. It is about 100 miles round trip. We had agreat meal st the Flesk in town. Danny Mann's has great music.

Hi Whitney,

Agree with Lillie and Linda except, I found the Ring of Kerry a bit too long for the value - suggest the Lakes Drive as an alternative.

Do do the Muckross House. The area is beautiful have fun.

The drive from Dublin - Killarney took us about 5.5hrs. I could not believe how bad the rods were. It is basically a one lane road that backs up everytime you approach a small town (every 5-10miles). I thought the drive back to Dublin via Cork and Kilkenny was much more scenic and had better roads.
