Dublin and then where?

A friend and I are flying into Dublin middle of March for three days before flying back out of Dublin. We are renting a car for the trip. Any suggestions on an itinerary for that short of time? We don't want to stay in Dublin the entire time. Would appreciate any thoughts or ideas.

A car is a liability in Dublin. Three days, starting and ending in Dublin, is very little time. Go south: Wicklow, Kilkenny, Wexford way. Mountains, gardens, coastal scenery (not Kilkenny),some interesting towns, assorted built heritage. Will that do?

Thanks that helps. And I made a slight mistake...I have four days. I was originally headed towards Cork Co., but your route has just about everything I'm looking for. Can I assume there is a castle along the way?

Yes. Kilkenny has quite a good one.

If you make it far enough south, Hook Head is one of the oldest continuously operational lighthouses in Europe.
