Three months in northern Italy
We are recently retired and will be staying in an apartment on Lake Garda from April through June. We have been to central Italy before so we plan on focusing our side trips to the coast, Switzerland, Austria etc. We have leased a car.
I’m interested in any tips of any kind relating on what to pack for our trip, where to go and what to do.
Also, what will the weather be like at that time of year?
Thank you!

Wow. Three months. We only spent three days last fall with Peschiera del Garda as our base. Loved it. We plan to return when they complete the floating cycle path that is being built along and above the lake. The second of our trip report, covering the northern lakes and cities, can be found here: Trip Report: Part 2 of 2): Northern Italian Lakes & Cities (12 days October)
You can easily travel to Milan, Venice, Verona, Lake Iseo, and even Lake Como from there. We enjoyed Bergamo, and, although Milan was not one of our favorites, it is a must see. Bolzano and the Dolomites also are favorites of ours.
Temps in April should be in 60's, May 70's and June 80ish. Probably a bit of rain, especially in April and May.

I agree - three months just makes me very envious! I have been posting this on many threads regarding Italy this time of the year. The Giro d'Italia bike race happens May 11-June 2 this year. Do check out the stage routes so that you will be prepared to enjoy the festivities or avoid the crowds, etc.

Most excellent! We are avid/rabid cycling fans and the route goes through my husband's ancestral home on the Adriatic coast (where we just were in Sept!). I would love to go back for the race but likely won't make it. We will be watching, however!!! Enjoy!
