Dublin

Hi, I wanted to get some recomendations of things to do in the city of Dublin that are not too touristy. I was there last year and did the Guinness Storehouse ect. and day trips to Hill of Tara and Newgrange. Any must sees that may be more local attractions.

Thanks

Check out the Book of Kells. It may be 'touristy' but it's historical and cultural significance are too important.

If you are interested in modern Irish history, consider the two hour guided walk of the "Easter 1916 Rebellion" with Cormac Collins. He is a witty, knowlegeable speaker. It costs 10 euros per person. Details at the Tourist Bureau.

When we were there in September the tour was given twice a day leaving from the International Bar right near the Tourist Bureau.

Hey there - the Book of Kells and Trinity's library are must-see's . . . we enjoyed wandering around the campus.

Also had an awesome lunch at Avoca Handweavers in-house cafe:

Irish produce, freshly & imaginitively prepared.

Have you toured Dublin Castle? Walked around Temple Bar? Seen a couple of plays? Gone to any of the museums?

a vist to the old Kilmainham Gaol is a
wonderful museum of Irish political history. It's the jail where leaders of
the Easter Rebellion were held and executed and where many other Irish political prisoners were held. A lot of movies were filmed there like In the Name of the Father , also some music videos. If you take the hop on hop off Bus tour you will be able to access the old jail .
