Thanks everyone! Have requested rooms at Drumcreehy and will give you all a report! I'm sure it will be nice.
CU: Good to hear Ballyvaughan is a nice quiet place, as we are going to be at some more lively places on other nights (Dingle, Westport) and I like to have a nice balance. By now you are definitely all a part of my trip! Looking forward to meeting new folks in Ballyvaughan, any suggestions for friendly pubs in Ballyvaughan or anywhere in County Clare? I will post that as a separate question later. Thanks for the links to check out.
It was a toss-up between Drumcreehy and Rusheen Lodge, they both sounded good. Actually Sheedy's (Lisdoon) sounded good too but I went for the seaside location.
MaggieOB, it's helpful to hear that walking back to Rusheen Lodge from Ballyvaughan in the dark would be a little dicey, in your opinion. I think I get the picture. Main road with no lighting and no shoulder, I agree, in the dark, not the greatest place to walk. Makes me feel better about choosing Drumcreehy House as it sounds like we will end up getting in the car to drive to the pubs no matter where we stay in this area! (Hubby and I decide who's driving and the driver only has a beer or 2 for the evening. No sacrifice for us as we're not big drinkers anyway.) I don't know about you, but I find it quite disturbing when I see some of the nicest people getting in their cars to drive drunk! (Not people I know well. I would take their keys away if they were my friends.)
HappyCheeseHead: Only 1 bad meal on the trip, that's a lot of good meals!
Thanks everybody for all your help. If anybody wants to keep this thread going, I'm sure it will help others who are also thinking of staying in Ballyvaughan! Plus I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone else who has stayed in Ballyvaughan.
