Drought in Catalonia

Hello travellers,

What is the impact of the drought in Catalonia for tourists who are considering visiting this summer? I am sure tourist dollars are needed but visitors also add to the strain on water resources. And from a selfish perspective, what is the impact on the experience for visitors?

Thanks for any insights.

I've heard the magic fountain is off. I'm going to Barcelona in June and I regret missing this, but I completely understand the reason.

Hi! The Magic Fountain isn't working, and the fountains in Park Guell don't have water either, just like any other ornamental fountain in Barcelona. Gardens can't be irrigated, so public park and gardens look drier than usual. But so far that's the only thing that might affect you. There's talking about forcing hotels to open their pools to non-guests for a fee, but so far nothing is sure (and I'm sure the hotel lobby will fight this proposal with all their might).
