Ann, decades ago we had an older family friend who made his living as one of the city's original travel photographers. His international work was all done in the 'oversized' format. He'd set up a booth and displayed his work at Art Shows and galleries. This was before I'd ever been to Europe, let alone the CT. And I did not yet own a camera. Will never forget one particular image (his best by far) that he took during one sunrise in Manarola. Still get goosebumps recalling that awesome shot.
Btw, we had a chuckle a few years ago, while trying to send a wire draft transfer to Italy, as the deposit on a rental. The young bank clerk with whom we were dealing, remarked casually that he'd one day love to see Italy for the first time, 'especially sinky teer'. We scratched our heads for a minute or two before realizing that he'd meant 'Cinque Terre'!
