Driving to Montpellier
Hi, does anyone know how long it would take to drive from London to Montpellier? I specifically want to go to Gange, which I beleive is close to Montpellier.
What is the cost of petrol like in France?
Thanks!

What's in Gange?
(Sp. Ganges????)
I have stayed near there a couple of times, at the Domaine du Pous, a really grat B&B run by a gracious if quite hard-of-hearing lady in her mid-70s, Mme Noualhac.
It's on the edge of tiny Notre Dame de Londres and has a great view across garrigue and the plain to the Pic St Loup.
I don't much like the Gange area but a few km south are the beautiful Gorges de L'Herault -- and it's worth following the river as far as St Guilhem, a picturesque ochre hill-town.
We could not find anywhere interesting to eat in Ganges but south of there, in St Martin de Londres, is La Pastourelle, the less pricey of the 2 "good' restaurants in St Martin (can't remember the name of the other -- Les Musardieres or sthg similar)
Check out La Pastourelle on:

As I love driving in Europe, the thought intrigued me. Here's the brief rundown according to viamichelin:
Driving distance is about 1100 km (about 700 miles and includes Channel crossing) and, with normal driving, takes about 11 hours.
According to another website that I chanced upon, unleaded petrol is about 69 pence per liter while diesel is at 57 pence.
Happy motoring!

Assuming you are taking the motorway through Millau, rather than the Paris-Lyon-Montpellier route:
Can you yet cross the new elevated viaduct around Millau -- I long to fly through the air at 500 feet, or whatever the elevation is......
