Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from the San Gimignano / Siena area to the Florence airport? And is it an easy drive? We are finishing up our 2 week trip by spending 2 1/2 days in the Tuscany area and flying out of Florence (flight departs around noon on a Monday). I had originally thought that Lucca would be a good choice because it appears to be close to FLR. However, after reading the glowing reviews of Siena and San Gimignano, I am doubting that choice.

It is 68 km from Siena to Firenze, the Amerigo Vespucci Airport is located off highway A11, you would take A4 from Siena and at Certosa , change to A3 up to Firenzenord and back track a little on A11 to Amerigo Vespucci. Baring any traffic problems should be able to so this in about an hour and a half... allow ample time and might plan an alternate route around Firenze if you may run into trouble, last time thru this are by car ran into about an hours delay due to traffic problems...
