Driving in Portugal

What is the speed limit on the toll roads in Portugal? Will specifically be driving from Lisbon, south on A-2, and probably over to Sevilla first, then coming back through the Algarve on the way back. I've been getting estimates online, but wondering details on the acutal drive and how quick it will go. Now that I think about it, I was also wondering if the south route was definitely quicker than going through Beja to Seville, which is shorter in distance, but I'm guessing slower roads. Any feedback on any of this is quite helpful.

Thanks,
Mark

P.S. I've been reading the other posts about Lisbon and have found the info from Lobo and Matt extremely valuable. Thanks!!

(sorry for posting a second time. I forgot to choose portugal)

Just returned. Traveled A-2 from south to Lisbon. The toll way is finished all the way even though the map shows dot lines. I averaged 140 clicks no travel or police. But it is March.

Just wondering if you incure an additional fee for taking the car into and out of Spain from Portugal?

Rented the car in madrid through Avis for 375.00 euro and had to pay a drop off fee of 244.00 euro. By the way the speed limit is 120. I think the toll cost was about 8 euro.

I am sure you will anyway, but it's a legal requirement in Portugal to carry your Driving licence and Passport along with all your hire car docs.

On the spot fines are common if your caught without.

I was caught, having changed my trousers to drive down to the beach and forgot to take my wallet and Passport.
Almost got a €60 fine except when he discovered I am Welsh and not English he let me off.
