John, your story sounds kind of funny after the fact. All the drivers were definitely French. I actually think the bumpers are heavy duty steel! Had another incident after joining up with my friends. Again, sitting in traffic in Aix, a woman rear-ended us (just a tap) and when we looked back, she blew us a kiss! A French apology, I guess.
