Driving from Rijeka to Split

OK first, I have read many of the posts.
Thinking about driving from Rijeka to Split. Have about 3 or 4 days to do this leg as I work my way down to Dubrovnik. Can this be done in 3 or 4 days and any place along the way I should not miss. I would like to spend a day or so in Trogir once I get to Split. Plan on taking the water view road. I think it is almost 400 miles but not sure what that 400 mile entails. Any help is appreciated.

I think it should be doable. There is so much to see in this part of the world, it's difficult to make suggestions without knowing your interests. Have guide books or trip reports given you any specific ideas or questions?

According to bing maps/directions, it should take 3 hours and 59 minutes. I know people who put 3 kids in a minivan and do Vienna, Austria to Marina, which is nearly to Split, in 10 hours routinely. You might stop, about halfway, in Sukosan, which is a charming beach town, with a flavor like La Jolla, California about 1955. So clean and pretty and safe! Lots of excellent bakeries! Lots of reasonable lodging within 8-9 minutes walk of the beach, just look around and make a deal for 40-60 euro/night for a pensione with kitchenette and private bath, exceptionally clean. They will love you! If you are not accustomed to driving in Eastern Europe, be careful, hazards are not always marked, use defensive driving and always assume you do NOT have the right of way. You cannot eat a sandwich and drive like in US.

Am I correct in thinking you have 3/4 days to get to Split? If so, Rijeka-Plitvice-Zadar-Split would be my suggestion.
If you have an overnight in the Rijeka area, then Volosko fishing village or Lovran would be far nicer than the city.

Here is a wonderful place to stay in Trogir:

We have stayed here twice and would go back in a heartbeat.

The room is very nice and the people are great!
