we are finally planning our late april trip to ireland and will be sharing driving with another couple. our plans include Limerick (2 nights) to killlarney (2 nights) to waterford (2 nights) to dublin (3 nights). does this sound do-able in 10 days and still see the sights and have some leisure time...or will all we be doing is driving? By the way, my wife hates driving.

Barb....We were in Ireland about a year ago & did essentially the same trip (but didn't go to Dublin) & had a wonderful time. The only thing to be aware of is that the roads are VERY narrow & therefore it's slower going than here. But Killarney, Limerick, & Waterford are all within a couple of hours of each other, & if you get a chance while you're in Waterford, drive southwest along the coast to Dungarven....gorgeous place! Barb, <BR> <BR>That is doable but I would advise staying in either Doolin or Ennis or Adare instead of Limerick city, if it is the Cliffs and the Aran Islands that you want to see then Doolin would be the best. Do a search on this site as there are several recommendations for B&Bs in this town. Then on your way south to Killarney stop off and see Bunratty (you may be interested in attending the Banquet there and if so you will need to adjust your plan to spend one night there - perhaps one night in Doolin and then one night in Bunratty - lots of B&Bs and hotels in the area), onto Killarney - if you wish to avoid Bunratty and cut down the travelling time take the Tabert ferry, while in Killarney take one of the bus tours of the Ring and then everyone can enjoy it instead of the driver missing out - it is a hairy enough drive at times too. I would advise you to add a day and visit Dingle (on one of the days in Kerry) and the then on to Waterford, stopping to see the Cobh Heritage Centre outside Cork. In waterford see the Crystal factory but you won't need o spend 2 nights in the city, you have the choice of going to Dublin via Kilkenny and seeing the Castle and Jerpoint Abbey or via the Wicklow Mts and Glendalough Round Tower. Get rid of the car in Dublin as you won't need it or want to drive in the city either. <BR> <BR>Hope this helps, <BR> <BR>Cathy

Dear Barb, <BR> <BR>My wife and I were in Ireland last October, and after leaving Dublin did 10 days of driving into the north and west country. Once I mastered left-side driving I loved it! Driving is really a great way to see the country. The road are very narrow but in good condition, and be prepared for hairpin turns and steep grades in Kerry, Clare, and Dingle. Be sure to see the National Park outside Kilarney. Enjoy, we fell in love with Ireland. <BR> <BR>Steve and Marlene
