What destination from Geneva for 3 nights would you recommend in Provence? We'd rent a car in Geneva. Please advise how long the drive would be from the place you're recommending.

I suggest near Avignon

My wife and I just drove from Nice to Geneva through the French Alps, beautiful to say the least.

Thanks. Avignon is approx a 5 and a half hour drive from Geneva. Is there anywhere you'd recommend in between? We'd be taking a long flight and then wanting to drive (or train somewhere- though would prefer to drive) but not that far a distance. Anywhere in Provence closer to Geneva that you'd recommend?

I haven't been to Annecy, but I'm dying to go. It's about an hour from Geneva, so it would be a very easy first-day's drive.

Alternately, you could stop in Lyon. Again, I haven't been there, but it looks like an obvious spot.

Can you recommend a place about 2 hours away from Geneva that you stayed or enjoyed? We were thinking of the first night in Lyon and then somewhere in the countryside. We've been to Annecy and enjoyed it. We'd like somewhere new. Not remotely stuck on Lyon- just a thought.
