Dress for evening performance in Stratford?

Could someone please give me an idea of what most people wear to evening theatre in Stratford? We are a family of 5 (3 teens) and have tickets to see Patrick Stewart in "Tempest" in late July. Theater-goers here (in the States) wear anything from jeans to suits. Is it the same there? I need to prep the kids (and especially hubby!) now if they're going to have to pack dress up clothes! Many thanks.

It was a very long time ago, but we dressed causally for theatre in Stratford and we weren't out of place. Even in London casual is OK, so I wouldn't worry about putting on your Sunday best.

We went to RSC theater at Stratford. It is everything goes, from jacket to jeans and t-shirts.

About 1/2 the auedience will be visitors who end up wearing what they wore all day sightseeing. So it is definitely anything (just about) goes. Just wear something neat and not shorts and you'll be fine. Half the audience will be better dressed than you, and half will be worse dressed.

Wear PRECISELY what you want to.

There's absolutely no need here for silly gentilities like "dress neatly and don't wear shorts".
