Dress code in South of France
Hi everyone

My question has to do with the dress code for everyday in France. Guidebooks I read say that men there don't wear shorts and are always dressed up. Is that true what have you noticed when traveling there.

Thanks

<< Guidebooks I read say that men there don't wear shorts and are always dressed up.>>
Well this was good for a giggle.... I live in Provence and I've rarely seen any men 'dressed up'unless they're going to some important function. And in the summer months everyone, including a lot of the local men, wears shorts.

PB

Whenever a question like this comes up it makes me chuckle a little. I always visualize a dusty bookcase crammed with thick official manuals:
Building Codes
Plumbing Codes
Fire Codes
Saftey Codes
Electrical Codes
Highway Codes
ah yes, here we are --
Dress Codes For South Of France

(page xxiii states: white patent leather
shoes and belts for men are mandatory)
