Dress Code in Paris

I will be traveling to Paris by the end of the week and was wondering what the dress code is like, or some of the latest trends? Thanks.

You know the drill: Black on black on black, with maybe a bold splash of gray for the wild ones. My advice: Don't worry about it. Wear what you want and maybe you'll set trends.

I don't believe there is a "dress code" for any particular city, but there is a tendancy to dress a bit more formally in Europe than in the US, and more so in major cities than in the countryside. This thread discusses it all in great detail:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=34403278

Thoug h it is supposed to be about Italy, the general idea is the same.

We just returned yesterday from Paris. I try to be up on the fashions and was excited to see what was going on there.
Depending on your age, and size, the must have is (are?) form-fitting cargo pants! I saw a lot with the drawstring at the bottom. They wear them with heels at night (the shop girls and hostesses at restaurants wear all day).

Also, dark blue jeans. We went to a pretty happening night club (20-30 somethings), and I was amazed at all the jeans with heels and interesting tops (fringed t-shirts, etc.)

During the day, everyone (men & women)wore retro-looking tennis shoes (brown suede pumas, etc.)

Personally, I just had my second baby, so I stuck with a lot of black!!!

Let me know if you want some other scoops! I want to go back all ready!
