Dresden or Leipzig

If you could visit only one of these cities, which would it be?

Thanks

Dresden.

Historic downtown is fully (nearly) revitalized. Wonderful museums. Great restaurants.

Can't comment on Leipzig because we were faced with the same choice and we chose Dresden. Glad we did. The Zwinger is beautiful.

Definitely Dresden especially if you like art & treasure museums and history. It's a comfortable city that has undergone the most extensive renovation in East Germany after Berlin.

I do like Leipzig too, but it's probably more geared toward fans of Bach. The cobblestoned downtown has also undergone a lot of renovations with endless shopping streets/squares & restaurants, a forest of classic & art deco buildings, major classical music venues and lots of university student population & young cultural scenes. Some train buffs maybe impressed by the super large train station, but it's still just another huge train station with a large shopping mall.

Very much agree with DAX's summary.
