I found that the canal smelled more just before La villette (in the last curve before you get on the bridge of La villette) - linked to more stagnation because the canal is blocked further down ?

My sense of it all will be far different when I see it in May, than it would otherwise have been. Thank you for this, kerouac. BTW, I'm still thinking about a visit to Mouzaia, after your pictures there. You must know, what you do has an impact.

Thank you mam'zelle Perdu.
I added some more canal pictures since they are now sandblasting the walls. It will be pristine in May and you will probably be able to see new Vélibs and beer bottles through the sparkling clear water.

I now have a collection of your pictures of the bend at the Jardin Villemon in progress to go with my innocent photos of the same scenes taken in
June.
Given the number of people in the garden and drinking beer along the footpath, the number of bottles -- and the fact that Heineken dominates -- is no surprise!

Kerouac.... I left this board a few years because I find it such an emotionally draining place (that's crazy, I know).
You had told someone to go to the Dog Cemetery. I commented that I loved that idea. Last year we lived in Paris for 3 months. We enjoyed the dog cemetery. I came back last week to this forum and wanted to thank you.
We lived near the Canal St. Martin. So I got a huge kick out of these photos. We are moving back for a year. Can't wait. Love your quirky Paris updates.

They are now refilling the canal.

Both links worked for me too. Kerouac, I've enjoyed your photos a great deal. Thank you. I stayed at St. Christopher's Inn (Canal) in October, 2015 and walked along the canal to Stalingrad numerous times. Your photos brought back some positive memories. I will be back in June and anticipate doing that walk again. Thanks so much for providing the photo evidence of the work being done.
