Please do not laugh, I am traveling to Scotland in a couple weeks with a very good friend who is a Dr. Pepper addict. She does not drink coffee, but loves her Dr. Pepper! Does anyone know if it is sold anywhere in Edinburgh? And if so, could you give me the name/location of the store?

What is is about Dr Pepper drinkers? Yes - Dr Pepper is sold in the UK. But it is bottled in the UK so it tastes different than Stateside DP. Not a LOT different but enough different that an addict would definitely taste the difference. I think the difference is in the sweetener used.

Anyway - she will find DP in shops and supermarkets.

Years ago - maybe in 1992 or 1993 - I traveled to Scotland/England for 6+ weeks w/ a total DP addict and I warned her she'd have to go cold turkey. She toughened up and we never even looked for it anywhere.

One day we were walking to a fairly remote waterfall in Northern Scotland and looking down at the bottom of a small pool there was an empty, super-sized Dr Pepper can. Funniest photo of the whole trip - - her sitting on a rock in the remote highlands holding this huge Dr Pepper can. (you had to be there )

Personally I like Diet Dr Pepper myself, But I don't recall ever seeing it in London or Paris, mind you I never put any real effort into looking for it either!I would wonder if it is hard to find in London that it might be harder to find in Scotland, but may be not.

Sorry can't really help, but can suggest she mix Coke with Rootbeer( which is also not easy to find, but I think is around) for a cheat Dr.Peppers. Good luck and thanks for the laugh!!lol

the mixing won't do -- unless one adds prune juice (since I think prunes are the basic ingredient of Dr Pepper)

I guess I my post wasn't clear - yes, it is sold in Scotland. After finding that empty can she started looking for DP and did buy it lots of places.

Absolutely you can find Dr. Pepper in supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, etc.). Also in some convenience stores.

Do you know where the home of Dr. Pepper is? Waco, Texas, that's where.

We took some to friends who live in the Alsace-Lorraine. Told them it was Texas champagne--they loved it!

I am a Dr. Pepper addict, too! Nothing else compares to it. I have threatened to FedEx a shipment of Dr. Pepper to my travel destination overseas. In many countries they have never even heard of it. I like to ask for it just to see the expression on their faces!

I had not thought about my addiction as I was planning for Italy. JCBT you are a true friend to check on DP availability for her in Scotland. Why would she drink coffee? Only Mt. Dew or Jolt have more caffeine per ounce in a carbonated soda. Please do not try to subject your addict to root beer mixed with anything, not even close. I always wondered which competitor's marketing firm started the prune juice rumor. Adrienne has the right idea to call the US number first. They should be able to direct you to the local bottler for Edinburgh. If not and even though Cadbury is demerging it's beverage operations on the 7th forming Dr Pepper Snapple Group, they should still be able to help in UK. The prune juice rumor has been around forever. And the &quot;10-2-and 4&quot; slogan originated in WWII. Get a boost by drinking DP at 10am, 2pm, and 4pm. And there was an attempt to promote Dr. Pepper served HOT several years ago. That person is serving a life sentence at Alcatraz!!

If she is going to Scotland she should switch to IRN BRU which probably outsells Coke, Pepsi and Dr Pepper put together.

She's not a Dr Pepper addict - she's a caffeine addict - it has huge amounts. If she can;t get that just buy one of the local &quot;energy&quot; drinks - also masses of sugar and caffeine to keep you high.

YES, as janis says, it is sold at virtually every supermarket and service station in the UK. I live in England, I go shopping, I know. Why? Because each week my plastics recycling box is filled with empty 2litre Dr Pepper bottles by my boys!

So panic not. Your friend will not have to suffer.

I saw a lot more Dr. Pepper on my 2007 trip to the UK than I did when I was there in 1985. It is widely available in stores, but not real common in restaurants (but, since all soft drinks are expensive in restaurants, and not usually bottomless as in US establishments, maybe it's just as well to drink water). FYI: The Duchess of Argyll is a Cadbury.

I'm not a Dr Pepper addict, but it is very, very tasty, and Red Bull and its ilk are no substitue.

I just had to laugh at the OP. I still remember my first DP in the UK and where it was. It was at the train station at Gatwick. It does taste a bit different but hey, its a DP. When I got home, the US DP tasted a bit different. My name is d1carter and I am a Dr. Pepper addict...heh. Go and enjoy.
