Dolomiti and Stelvio Passes will be open in May?

We are looking to visit Stelvio National Park and the Dolomites from 19th May to 24th May... Can anyone give us an idea if the Stelvio pass and all the passes in Dolomites (Passo Giau, Passo Sella and the many more) are usually open for car access during this time? we are visiting primarily to drive around and take some gondolas. Will the gondolas be working at this time?

Hi vibhav,
Stelvio pass is still closed, if you keep checking on http://alpenrouten.de/Stilfser-Joch-..._point482.html you'll find out when it's open. There in the top lefthand corner you can see either a red tag (closed = "gesperrt") or a green tag (open). At the Stelvio pass conditions always depend on the weather, and it did snow just recently. There you need to be really carefully observing the forecast since one day it's open, the next it can be closed.
With the passes in the Dolomites it's similar but not as bad. They are open already and are mostly closed briefly only after snowfall in winter (but also after snowfall in summer of course).
The gondolas will be mostly closed, I don't think you'll find one operating.
Hope I could help
