Dollar Slowly Gaining on the Euro

A few months ago, there were a number of threads addressing the anomalously weak US dollar. Things have been improving steadily since that time. In early June, 1 Euro cost US$ 1.18. This morning 1 Euro costs US$ 1.06. I'm hoping for parity by the time I head over there in the fall. That may still be a long shot, but at least there has been some improvement.

Hey, that's not fair, the exchange was .85 cents to 1 euro when I was there this past July. I think everyone in Italy owes me a refund.

Thanks, Steve.

So, the dollar now gaining on the euro, eh?

That means...

U.S. tourists in Europe:
European tourists in the U.S.
U.S. exporters to Europe
European exporters to the U.S.

Capo,

There's probably some point where we can optimize all four of your concerns. I believe that an advisor of Louis XIV once said that a successful economy is one in which the dissatisfaction is distributed equally.

Thanks for the info smueller! I will be in Italy next Sunday, and haven't had time to check out the exchange rate for a while.

I'll be even happier if the dollar continues to strengthen against the British pound. Maybe I can finally afford to go back to London.

Actually the european economists are predicting a good recovery in the USA economy in the near future whereas recovery in europe will lag the US by a year or two.
Thus european investors will see a better return on their money in the US.
