The current Euro exchange rate to the U.S. dollar is the equivalent of around 5.2 French Francs per dollar. I remember 4.8 FF/dollar around 1996 or so and being happy to see things IMPROVE to 5.2 FF/dollar. (For people into calculating things, the constant value of the FF to the Euro is 6.55957 FF. Have fun!)

Re: but as one reply said, i should just be fortunate i am able to go - and that i am.

C'est moi...and how nice of you to have that attitude.

Laura, I'd say if you already have the approved time off from work and have money saved, then go. You say that you are tempted to cancel and go later when you'd possibly get better rates, but consider that you might cancel, go later, and get even *worse* rates. Then how would you feel?

Go to London in ten days and have yourself a wonderful time!

I don't like the exchange as well. But I feel that I'd rather bear with it and pay a bit more than to cancel my trip next month.
