Does this route look reasonable?

Hi, I'm in the early planning stages of a 3-week trip and hoping to get some feedback if this looks doable.

Zurich - 4 days
Train to Munich -stay 4 days
Train to Vienna - stay 4 days (stop at Salzburg enroute)
Train to Prague - stay 4 days
Flight Prague to Amsterdam - stay 4 days

I added Zurich last minute because we're hoping to take a scenic train ride or see the picturesque villages of Switzerland; am I flying into the right Swiss city to do this?

Or the other alternative is fly into Munich and stay 5 days in each city thereafter.

Thanks.

For a scenic train ride it might be better to land in Geneva and take the Glacier Express: http://www.glacierexpress.ch/en/Pages/default.aspx

The Lauterbrunnen valley might be what you are thinking of; Interlaken, Jungrau, and the like. Bern is the closest city.

The itinerary is very reasonable.

Your plan is a reasonable one. An alternative if you are willing to drive some is to skip Switzerland and fly into Munich then train to Salzburg for a few days and drive around the mountains and picturesque villages in that area before continuing on to Vienna and Prague.

Hi pf,

Nice itinerary.

We enjoyed our stay at http://www.st-josef.ch/ in Zurich.

It's about 2 hr from Zurich to Interlaken.
Train schedules and fares are at www.sbb.ch

Alternatively, you might wish to stay fly into Bern.
You could do a daytrip to Colmar as well as see the mountains and lakes.

You might find my trip reports helpful:
