Does anyone remember the post about the "wine diet"
A coworker is headed to Paris soon and is beginning to fret a bit over vacation weight gain with the many opportunities for multi-course meals, good wine, etc. (Yes, I have told her she will walk it all off). I recall seeing a hilarious post about a "wine diet" here on Fodors quite some time ago. I may have even responded to it but I can't seem to locate it. The jist of the concept was how an all wine diet would actually result in weight loss. I'd like to send it to my coworker for a laugh if anyone can track it down.

I don't remember the wine diet thread, but here's an interesting bit of information I learned on NPR yesterday: Apparently William the Conqueror was terribly overweight, so much so that he became unable to ride his horse, which was a distinct disadvantage as a conqueror. His is the first-ever recorded instance of someone going on a weight-loss program. How did he do it? He consumed nothing but alcohol for over a year. Apparently it worked and he was able to saddle up again.

Hi TexasAggie,
A poster on this thread mentions a "Wine Diet"
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34557624
FYI, for finding this I used a site search at Google to find this. When the Fodor's search box doesn't find something, I go to Google and do this type of search:
wine diet site:.fodors.com/forums
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Hi Scot!
That was it - thank you so much!!
>>Something like toast for breakfast, a simple sandwich or baked potato for lunch and then have a glass of wine as soon as you get home in the evening. Then another. By this time you should have lost your appetite. Finish off the bottle and go to bed.<<
