Go to cemetery, dig up body-- there it is in the coffin. It isn't in Heaven or Hell.
<<

It happens on the LAST DAY Thin. On the Last Day the dead will be reunited with their bodies for judgement. Do you really believe someone as complex as you DEFINATELY are came about by random chance?

You were created and you will meet your maker

Until you meet your maker, you stay in deep freeze or on Philip Jose Farmer's "River World."

If your body has been totally decimated by time, fire, etc. then you get to pick and choose the body you wish to use.

Moslem men usually, do not wait to be united with their bodies and go directly to heaven or Hell, without passing Go. Those who go to Heaven get there in their most virile age notwithstanding their age of death, so that they can make use of the 72 young virgin concubines (gender not specified). It is not very clear for female Moslems though. They may wait for the day of Judgement like their Christian sisters.

Another idea is that people continue to "evolve" after death until the day of judgement so that they can present best of themselves.

Frank, where does a Christian go when he/she dies? Heaven? How do you go to Heaven before judgement on the Last Day

The Catholic nuns taught me about evolution.

And we read Inherit the Wind in Catholic school.

cd,
OT Saints are IN Abraham, literally in his bosom. NT Saints are IN Christ until that time(2 Cor5:8). In the Gospel of Luke even the location of the reprobate is documented

Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luke 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.'

I heard a similar conversation at a cocktail party once. The host shut down the bar and threw everyone out.

If you don't believe in science (yes, that includes evolution), don't get a flu shot.>

Ah science has shown that flu shots are very marginally effective and not really effective for older adults - so you did not read the science behind flu shots to make such a naive conclusion - yes if you look at the science it will tell you a lot but if you don't then you will believe the commercial selling points of say pharmaceutical companies that hype flu shots even though the science is not at all clear on their efficacy.

Poor Frank - so brainwashed - every question he quotes scripture - that is all he has scripture - circular reasoning - well the Bible says it so it must be true.

Poor brainwashed fool IMO to believe everything the Bible says without any doubt.

If Frank were a Moslem he'd be quoting the Quaran in the same exact way -he'd be brainwashed in a different religion.

Poor Frank so deluded and so simplistic yet he represents more than a few Americans and that is the original question - why in a country where science and education is so so advance do we still have people acting like ignoramuses and believing in what Einstein called 'childish stories' - that is a perplexing question that brings shame on Americans from folks like Gordon and rightly so.

Creationism that the Earth is only a few thousand year old is so so proven to be wrong yet Frank and his deluded ilk nevertheless believe it - why - because the Bible says so.

Frank do you have any other proof for your God and religion than the Bible?

This will probably be the penultimate entry on this post.

Evolution has been widely taught as fact for decades (at least 5 of which I'm personally aware) at Calvin College (Grand Rapids).

Calvin College is "a comprehensive liberal arts college in the Reformed tradition of historic Christianity".

Yes, there are some fundamentalists who don't believe in it, just as there are some folks who believe we could have 100% of our energy from solar, and that "quantitative easing" will have no effect on our economy.

It is sad that anyone believes in a mystical magical fairy man who waves magic wands around, seemingly on this planet only. Just shows a complete lack of intellect and utter disregard for fact.

Kate,

Pity that list of 10 Greatest Britons doesn't include any of the Great Scots. People like:

Alexander Fleming
John Logie Baird
David Hume
Alexander Graham Bell
James Watt
Adam Smith
etc.etc.etc

Americans who travel are like all people some educated some not so. We were recently at an archeological site in Olympia, Greece and I overheard an American read aloud the sign that indicated what occurred in antiquity at the sight. He was quite disgusted and declared, "Really, how do they know that." As if the historical event that occurred there was just all made up!! We couldn't stop laughing.

I can just imagine they went home and told their friends how the Greeks made up some fantasy about a place where they held Olympia events. "Imagine the nerve of the Greeks. We all know the Olympics didn't start until recently!!"

But if Frank had grown up in ancient Greece he would have been 100% sure that the Oracle at Delphi had devine powers - he and his type would be brainwashed by whatever culture they grew up in - that he can't see the light about that is rather telling of his intellectual curiosity and willing to believe without any doubt things his early culture told him was true.

Sad, sad, sad.

I think Quantum mechanics proves the randomness of the universe.

I think you have no understanding of Quantum Mechanics - it does not prove the randomness but exactly the opposite. You seem to know more than you understand.

wait you mean Delphi isn't the center of the universe and the oracle had no divine powers? are you sure about that? after all the oracle predicted the Athenian victory over the Persians - pretty strong stuff!
