Do many Americans take offence at evolutionary theory?

I have a long list of disproven GrecoRoman theories from the foremost scientists of the NT age that shared all the same hubris you have. Christianity survived, they are forgotten.
Tell us then - it's hard to argue if one side doesn't know what they are arguing about.

That minister violated a practice he himself set as a standard for the his Church, Im not surprised his Church reacted.
Yet Christ Himself allowed work on Sundays.
Most fine universities were founded by Christians.
Given that virtually everyone in Europe and the Colonies was a Christian, that isn't much of a boast to make. It's like saying they were founded by men with two eyes.

That is to say, being corrupt they brought forth corrupt children. The corruption spread, by God’s just judgment, from Adam and Eve to all their descendants
Punishing the children for the crimes of the parents - not exactly justice.

1) Catholics have a seperate soteriology than Reformed Christians
2) The Sabbath wasnt abolished, Jesus being fully God has dominion over the Sabbath
3) It is just, a seed will reproduce after itself corrupt after corrupt and good after good. A weed can not produce good fruit

A weed is a plant in a place where it shouldn't - and anyone who knows anything about gardening knows that "weeds" are used for many things
It does not address the problem of God punishing people who hadn't offended against God. If you robbed someone would you expect your children to be punished because of that?

Frank - get a grip on reality man - lapse back into reality if that was ever the case. There is no God, no Jesus, no Santa Claus, no Easter Bunny - act like an adult and use adult rationality to escape your serious delusions.

Why did the Navy Yard memorial Service on CNN just now begin with a reading from Psalm 23? Do you really believe it was read in vain?
Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalms 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Frank,
I am sorry for your paranoid tendencies and rather nasty nature.
Responding to my suggestion without checking at all.
Her is a part of the review published at IMDB, the movie data base:
"It's about the battle between good and evil: Ivan sees only the good, Adam only the evil. Ivan tries to make Adam see the good, Adam attempts to force Ivan into seeing the evil around him. Ivan preaches about the distinction between good and evil, pointing out how much the modern world is in confusion with these terms and how much our common conceptions have changed with time. This is ironical, because the movie questions the whole distinction: in other words, it questions the consequences of the fall (not uncommon in Danish lay theology). While not making an actual statement, it points out that good and evil are, at least to a great extent, constructs of society and dependant on the point of view. On the other hand, by making Ivan absolutely blind to misfortunes in his life, it illustrates how it is possible to see good in everything, and close ones eyes from everything bad.
Adams æbler is a very interesting movie. It entertains, shocks, provokes, and finally, redeems. Whether this redemption is favourable as such, is left to the viewer to judge. All in all, it's an absolutely surprising masterwork, one of the rare gems.

The devil quotes scripture.
I believe that our planet is an oblate spheroid. Believing in a magic heaven man, and taking ancient scribblings interpreted for thousands of years as literal truth, is the same as belief in a flat earth.
BTW:
"I dont consider Hope College a good college. After a visit we found them lacking...We ignored their unsolicited yet substantial scholarship offer"
gag me. (Hope College sure dodged a bullet, didn't they?!)
