Do I have correct prices for point to point rail tickets?
During my research for pricing on point to point rail tickets, I came up with the following prices. However, in trying to rconfirm this information, I can't seem to remember how I did it. I would appreciate it if someone would check my figures.
First Class Tickets, pp:
CDG-TGV to Angers $56
Angers to Amboise $26
Amboise to Paris $40
More questions: I am wondering if for trips of this duration, 1st class is necessary. We are in our late 60s, and will have only a small amount of luggage for each segment.
Do you think we would have a problem securing our tickets at the CDG-TGV ticket counter rather than ordering them in advance?

You should book through www.voyages-sncf.com to save the most money. Other people will explain the do's and don't's of this process. Just do not go through Rail Europe, even though it belongs to the SNCF.

Best to order them in advance if you are worried about price. First class is never necessary on the TGV IMHO but I do prefer it. Do a search for MorganB and SNCF and you will find a guide I typed up with step by step instructions about how to book and print your tickets on the sncf website.

Hi S,
As noted, buy your tickets from www.voyages-sncf.com.
CDG/Angers PREMS fare is available for 25E 2cl and 45E 1cl.
You can print your own ticket if you _do not_ buy the insurance.
Look for PREMS fares for your other legs as well.

What a wonderful guide prepared by MorganB! This certainly takes a lot of the "fear" out of the process. However, I am wondering if anyone has used the TGV/Air combination (book the train ticket the same time as the air) offered by Air France? Using this method, if the plane is delayed causing us to miss the train, I would assume we would not be penalized. Anyone know the pros and cons of this? Thanks.

Hi Susan,
Glad you found the guide helpful! They give you a "coupon" for your train ticket. When you arrive at CDG you trade the coupon for the real ticket at a special desk (TGVair). If your plane is delayed they will put you on the next train.
