Do ferries from Tangier-Spain really depart every 30 mins?
I read somewhere that the ferries leave every 30 mins, but when I go to one of those sites that allows me to book a ferry (ferry routes seem scarce). There are ferries to Barcelona only every few days or so, and ferries to Algeciras every hour or so (not all hours of the day listed). Can anyone advise on this?

Have you looked at this site? It appears there are only overnight ferries. I googled another site and the trip duration was 30 hours.
Try googling ferry schedule tangier to barcelona and you'll find other info.

Thanks adrienne. I have been checking a few sites for timetables and the info I'm getting is conflicting and/or confusing.
One site *seems* to indicate there are no ferries on the dates I enter and lists ferry departures that are random, and occur only once a week (or so?).
The other few sites (that list all ferry lines) either let me choose by departure date, and/or list timetables that seem stagnant (which is conflicting to the other info I'm getting).
I will definitely take a look at your site. Thanks!

The ferries are run by several competing companies, so you'd need to look at several websites to find all of them.
There is a new port called Tanger Med which is about 40 km east of the city of Tanger. All ferries to Algeciras now go from Tanger Med. Ferries to Tarifa and Barcelona (as well as Sète and Genova) still, I believe, go from the port in the city of Tanger.

Yes I know Algeciras is in Spain. Trying to get to Spain (quickest method really), no matter where we land. *Have* to leave from Tangier, for certain.
I thought ferries were frequent, but I have been on several websites and am getting conflicting info. For instance, one timetable indicates they are fairly frequent, but then when I try to input my date (to reserve the ticket) it will tell me (no ferries on this date). Mind you I have been on both single ferry lines' websites (such as frs.es) and I have been on third party run websites that *say* you can register for any and all ferry companies.
Could my problems be due to the fact that the dates of my trip are so far in advance (Sept), that I'm not getting very far?

I think I found a correct timetable on Tangier-Med's official website.
www.tangermed-passagers.com/
Would most agree that this appears to be frequent departures? Also, it is necessary to reserve a space much in advance? (I would think not due to the apparent frequency). Thanks in advance!

On that timetable, it would appear that there is an 8 am (daily) trip on the Acciona (ferry line). Am I reading this correctly?
But when I go to this site:
www.trasmediterranea.es/trasmeweb/inicio.do
and enter my date of Sept 16, almost all dates are crossed out?!! This can't mean they're sold out? I just don't understand.

They obviously aren't taking bookings for these sailings yet. You do not need to book this far in advance for travel on 16 September.
Acciona Trasmediterranea currently have five sailings daily from Tanger Med to Algeciras. COMARIT (www.comarit.es) have 12 sailings daily from Tanger Med to Algeciras. FRS (www.frs.es) have eight sailings daily from Tanger city to Tarifa and four daily from Tanger Med to Algeciras.
