If I don't buy them at LHR, I usually order GBHPs from BritRail. They charge $12 s & h per order - not per pass.
Even with that added on the sale prices are a tremendous bargain.
I just bought 2 7-day passes to use in June and the total w/ shipping came to $88 ($38 ea + $12) so at $44 per it is still a lot cheaper than the regular price.

I just got my 2 15 days passes from Britrail today, they did have the best overall price (it was only a dollar!) but they came fed ex two days after I placed the order and included the book. Good service. We used the Heritage Passes on our last trip, except then it was a two for one and saved big time, expect we will do the same this time also even at the 30% discount. Deborah

Not sure if this is clear enough on the informational website but the 30% off passes I received are good from Jan 22 until July 21 of 2004. Luckily we will be there in May/June so not a problem. I know there was a statement about 6 months but to me it was rather vague. I would have thought if it was for 2004 it was for all of 2004. Just wanted you to know. Deborah

I'm still unclear. I guess the 7 day pass is only for 7 consecutive days. We'll be in the UK for three weeks, but probably would do maybe 7 or more properties. But don't plan to visit sites every day. It would be hard to get our money's worth out of a 7 consecutive day ticket since some of the properties would be in Wales at the end of our stay and some near the beginning of our stay in the south.

This was in my local paper a week ago. If you buy between Jan 1 and Jan 31 you get a third off the regular price. The regular price for a pass good for four consecutive days is $35 but the discount price is $25. The price for a one month pass is being discounted from $102 to $71. They give the website as www.britrail.net or the phone number as (866)462-2748. The pass is valid anytime within six months of the date it is issued and once you begin using it it is good from four days to a month depending on which pass you buy.

When I called Britrail today, I questioned the CS agent. She stated that you needed to activate the card within six months after the sale time, i.e. August 1, 2004. We're going the last two weeks in July, so that will work. She then said that they would be actually good the whole year and on one site it actually stated that they were good through 1/30/05

But if I understand you all right, you're saying you can validate them or begin using them any time in that longer period. But if you have a seven day pass, for example, it is only good for seven consecutive days after you start using it. Right?

All of the GBHP's are good for consecutive days.
Patrick: with the sale now on it would certainly pay you to get the 15 day pass. It is about the same price as a 7 day pass w/o the sale. Say you visit 7 properties at an average of £9 each - that is over $110 - so you would still save a lot. And more than likely you would visit more than 7 properties since so many are covered.
jetteted: The GBHP has nothing to do w/ transportation. It is strictly a pass for entry to tourist attractions and historis sites.

I purchased the pass last night at the Rick Steves Site, along with the 4 day travel card for LOndon and a railpass. I can't help but think with the horrible value of the dollar, that anything I buy in dollars will end up being much cheaper. The Rick Steves site is also offering the discount through 1/31.
