Dinner with a view?

Can anyone suggest a place in Athens with a neat view for dinner? Any of the hotels? We are staying at the Phillippos, but I do not think they have roof top dining. Thanks.

Ken,

The Athens Intercontinental Hotel has a rooftop restaurant with an overall nice view. I would recommend making reservations and ask for a table on the edge for a better view.

Also, the Plaka area has some nice restaraunts and along with good shopping. However, these restaraunts typically don't have a view of the city. Z

THE best view is from the hill of Lykabetus at the restaurant ORIZONTES.
It is a magical setting with a 360 * view of the city including the Acropolis and the riviera.
You will access it on a funicular and have the opportunity to have a dinner in this awarded restaurant.

An other otion -if you like fishfood- to book a table at the 'Moorings' (Vouliagmeni Yacht club) where the talented chef of theVaroulko(one star michelin)offers-during the summer season- an inventive mediterranean cuisine.

Not far from the Philippos, stands the Dionyso's and its prime view on the Acropolis ....and if you walk the pedestrian walkway of Apostolou Pavlou you will find the Filistron (excellent value)and the exclusive 'Pil poul' favoured by dignitaries and royalties visiting Athens.

Thanks for the ideas...I'm looking for a place for out first night there.....we arrive in Athens around 3pm for a quick 2 days before Santorini..most likely will have dinner the second night by finding a place wondering through the Plaka. Thanks.

Ken-

Santorini is incredible. You've probably heard that the sunsets in Oia are a must. I'm not sure where you're staying, but buses run from the capital Thira to Oia.

Also, I should mention that I didn't eat at the rooftop restaraunt at the Athens Intercontinental Hotel. My husband and I stayed at the hotel and had a chance to check out the view. Have a wonderful trip. Ziba

To Ken
We were in Athens 2 weeks ago and had dinner at Dionysis Restaurant. It was overpriced, touristy, snooty and the view of the Acropolis is looking up at it, rather than across or down on it. We wwere meeting a couple from our cruise or we wouldn't have stayed.
Not a view restaurant, but good for lunch in the plaka is Byzantino. The Orizontes sounds good for a view. Wish we had gone there.
