Have read about Number 31--whcih is a hotel in Dublin on St. Stephens Greens. Is anyone familiar with it--and do you recommend it? Also booked a room at Cashel House in Galway Bay area. Supposed to be excellent---anhy feedback? Also, read about and looked at website for Mount Eagle Lodge--a B&B in Ventry on the Dingle peninsula. Any feedback? Thanks so much. Going first two weeks of September and will drive and fing other places.

there are some really nice B&B's around Ventry and Dingle - haven't heard of that particular one. You musttake the Connor pass out of Ventry its a really pretty drive. Also do the Ring of Dingle drive - its really nice - some people say nicer than the Ring of Kerry. A really nice hotel in Dublin is the Towers in Ballsbridge about 2 miles outside the Centre -Number 31 is meant to be nice also - another great hotel is called the Morgan which is lovely (quite modern)and in the Temple Bar area. If you get a chance to go down to the Wicklow Mountains there are some beautiful areas and places to visit around there - especially Powers Court. What I would recommend is don't plan to do too much - stay in the West for the whole 2 weeks - there is so much to do - if you get too ambitious you will just spend the whole time driving!!(whichis what I did - but still had a great time). In Dublin there are so many great restaurants -particular favourites of mine are: Unicorn, Rolys (at Ballsbridge), La Stampa. Have a great time.

Cashel House is wonderful, and I highly recommend it. Just posted a big slobbery diatribe about it, so I won't go through it again. Look for the thread "Cashel House".

We were in Ireland in June and did find the Dingle Pennisula beautiful. We went to Slea Head and really enjoyed the views. Someone told us about the Connor Pass. On our way from Dingle, we did go by the Connor Pass. If you are not an experienced Ireland driver, be prepared. <BR>It was a valuim moment for both driver and passenger, but it was a beautiful sight. We talked to a bus driver from Ireland and he said they never go the Connor Pass, thank God.

Hi Joy, <BR> <BR>I returned from Ireland two weeks ago and had a wonderful stay at Number 31. Noel and his wife were excellent hosts. The rooms were very comfortable with most having couches and a sitting area. It is very centrally located near pubs and sites. I would definately recommend a stay there. We also spent a week in Galway and did daytrips from there. I'd be happy to answer anty other questions you may have.

We will be in Galway for 3 nights at the end of Sept. Other than rides to see scenery (for me), my husband is more interested in the towns. Since you were there for a week, do you have any neat towns to recommend? Any great pub finds? <BR>Thanks a lot, <BR>Elaine

Elaine, I would make a trip to Connemara which has both scenery and towns (Clifden). I would spend your time in the Glaway CIty. There is plenty there to last a day or two. Quay Street which turns into Shop Street is the main road. There are plenty of pubs in this area. A few that we liked were Quay's Pub and the Kingd Head. There are some other pubs right across the Corrib River from Quay Street. Good one's are Monroe's Tavern and the Crane Bar. There were a few other with Irish names that I can't remember. Some restaurant recomendations would be the Malt House and KC Blakes. We stayed in Glaway all week and did day trips (Kerry and the Cliffs of Mohar, Bunratty Castle, Connemara, and the Aran Islands). The rest of the time was spent in Galway City. Enjoy. It's a great country. There isn't a whole lot to see and do it's more about absorbing the Irish way of life and the people.
