Don't think Air France or KLM fly out of Boston and if they do they are high. I ALWAYS use AerLingus. I will call them this week and check. They have a sale for flights till the 15th of June and we fly back the 21st. I do get good service and prices when I call. Some of the websites for airlines don't seem to have multi-city options.

We used miles for our tickets this year. I did check to see what the going rate was for our tickets (SEA to CDG) though and it was around $1700, which is what we paid for tickets 4 years ago.

PDX--I checked the AF site and was able to get the prices. Not sure what to tell you, but maybe try again and see if there was a glitch or something.

Thanks for trying danon and mms. I don't know what I'm doing differently than on any other website.
I get the total price at the end of the process but not during the selection of the individual flights. So I can't tell if I'm selecting an $1100 flight or a $1500 flight until it's calculated at the end.

We have booked Louisville-Rome-Louisville via US Air in May for $780 pp with Rome to Palermo and Catania to Rome via Easy Jet and Windjet for what we think is about $130 more. The Sicily extensions were in Italian with a button to push for English translation. The bottom line said "knit" total in € but we don't know if it is the total total or, most likely, one leg's total. At any rate, we were pleased since we started out over $1,200 each.

We booked in November for a July trip: Nashville/Paris RT 5 tickets @ $1039 each. It was the big US Air sale on airfare.com. I am not too worried because my flights still show up when I log on to the US Air website. I stopped checking too but now my dad will be joining us and I can't find anything below $1600 from Las Vegas.

We bought our tickets last week from New Orleans to Rome and from Milan to New Orleans on Delta for $941. We normally monitor kayak.com, and then go directly to the airline's website to book. I just got tired of waiting around for the prices to drop.

If you haven't seen it , the "Explore" feature on Kayak.com is something to monitor. It allows you to visually check what people are currently paying for fares from your home airport to where you want to go, by month. You can zoom in , for example to Europe and see the best deals available , then pan around the world. It's pretty slick.

That is a cool feature. Not sure if it helps me at this point, though. Looks like it is going to cost us to do open jaw tickets, into Venice and out of Rome.

Sometimes it helps lower the price to flip your trip around. In my case, Barcelona and Paris, the fare is significantly more if I fly into Paris and out of Barcelona. I'm not so sure it's going to help with Venice and Rome but it doesn't cost to try.

pdx, good advice but the apartments and hotels are reserved and mostly paid for. Will keep looking.

Anything under 1K is a good deal as far as I am concerned! No sales yet, but I am being vigilant!

I found out that my problem getting the prices to come up on AirFrance is I'm using multiple destination search. I can get the prices for a basic roundtrip but not for the itinerary I'm using which includes a short-hopper between BCN and PAR. I'll call the company.

rbnwdlr - I'm right with you. I can't alter the dates for the flights because our apartments are reserved and also booked already for alternate dates.
And I think I'm being a little obsessive-compulsive rather than vigilant about the airfare prices. I think I should go ahead and buy at the available price, $1100-ish, but I keep looking for a little bit better buy. One more day.....

If you use skyscanner

and input "Boston" as your departure city and then use their "Everywhere" as the arrival city, you'll be surprised what you can come up with.

Or you can use "New York" as your departure city and "Everywhere" as your destination.

Just play around with it - you may get a few surprises.

Seemingly, the cheapest fares are those that fly into London. If you can take a flight into London, then switch to a discount airline like easyjet or Ryanair to get you to Italy, that might work. Just watch out for the London airports! Going cross town from Gatwick to Luton, for example, may not be that easy!

You just have to play around and be a bit more flexible to see what can come up.

Good luck!

I just booked two tickets yesterday BOS to CDG, Non stop!
at $932 thru Delta.com best fares. It was on Kayak at that price for about 2 hrs, then gone. Then I tried the Delta site. Before that tough to find below $1300. What a relief. Good luck!

Good job, lee! When are you traveling? I'm looking for early June airfare. Let me know how you found it, i.e., did you get an alert or were you sitting and staring at the computer like a cat at a mouse?

Flights to Paris are generally cheaper than to Italy. That is a good price, though. I have gotten those '2-hour' sales before and it is exhilarating, no??!!!!

Mama mia, the ticket prices have gone up by about a hundred dollars since Saturday! I am waiting till after midnight tonight to see if there is any truth to the myth that prices go down at midnight on Tuesday. Then I am booking 5 tickets at whatever price I can get. (Will have to stay home next year!)
