Kelly A, if you are still reading this, would you email me? I have a few questions about the S222 and environs.

What is the website of your walking tour company? Just googling on "walking tours of florence" turns up many sites using that term. Thanks.

First of all....Bravo to Kelly A for such an outstanding and informative report. We're doing our first trip to Italy for a 10 yr anniversary and although we started out planning to splurge here or there and going mid-range the rest of the trip...I'm finding that I'm changing my tune (going more towards splurging for all) since this may be the trip of our lifetime. We don't know when we'll be back to Italy (hopefully, many more), but we want to do it our way!

Kudos to you for doing it your way!

I never really considered signing up for a tour since we enjoy and pride ourselves on planning and organizing the sights on our schedule...however, after reading about your "Day in Florence" tour, that is definitely something we will do. Grazie!

to: jrpfeiffer...here's the link to the tour co. that Kelly A used and recommended...http://www.italy.artviva.com/

Kelly,

Can you please tell me the name of the private car you used to get from the airport to your hotel in Rome? You mentioned that it cost 35 euros.
I've enjoyed your travel log so much. I'm traveling to Italy in August with a friend, it's the first time for both of us and I've been reading books like mad!
Thanks again.

Sharonincary - Kelly stated she used the Leonardo Express from the airport in Rome. I think the transport for $35 you are talking about was in Florence from the train station to the hotel.

I've used www.limoservicerome.com, but it costs about 45E for 3 people.

Kelly,
Thanks for your report. My husband & I are going to Italy in a few weeks and your tips and comments have been wonderful. One thing I'd like to request is if you have found the information for the private car in Rome. Our flight gets in at 10pm and I would prefer to have a reserved private car (you mentioned 35E I think). Thanks again for all the information you have provided and to everyone who has added in useful tips in this forum.

I just used Andrea at the aforementioned romelimoservice for transportation from the hotel to the airport this past Sunday. I was impressed. I have their phone number if you need it. We had flight delays and cancellations - they were very understanding and willing to adjust the plans.

Kelly, you're report was wonderful - thank you for investing so much time in it.

My husband and I are going to Italy next week. I have a funny question: Could you please tell me what kind of food one can get on the Eurostar??

Also, I would be so interested to know more about your carry-on luggage situation. We were going to take one suitcase between us that we would have checked in. Your suggestion, though, is really inspiring! How did you do it?? Did you have enough room for everything you needed?? Please provide details!!!!

thanks, Tamara

Kelly --

Thank you so much for continuing with your trip report on Italy. It's wonderful that you had a dream tour. You've given us some ideas for our upcoming trip.

Ignore the negative posters. While there can be a range of wonderful exeriences in many price ranges, it's great to hear about the range of possibilities. We have visited Europe many times, with the range of good-better-best-outstanding hotels and travel arrangements, and each has its own merits and trade-offs. It sounds like you chose wisely for maximum enjoyment.

(Thanks also for the warning about tour-italy.com)
