My DH informed me yesterday that he has a business meeting in Denmark 11/21/05 and do I want to go? My first reaction was - No. Are you out of your mind - it will be freezing cold. But perhaps I am being too hasty. I'll have to go pick up a guidebook on Denmark as I know absolutely nothing about Denmark. We would only be there a few days. Are there Christmas Markets that time of year? Good shopping or sites to see? Or will it be so bitterly cold all I will want to do is stay in the hotel.

Of course, we could go somewhere after the meetings. I have always wanted to ski in europe but I think 11/21 is a little early for ski season. I did want to go to Grandmere's recommended ski area in France:

but again, perhaps it is too early in the season. If we ski, I would want somewhere that isn't too much trouble to get into or out of but quaint. Have been to Murren in the summer so know my way around that area.

It shouldn't be too cold at that time in Denmark. The climate in Denmark is similar to England's - moderate throughout most of the year. Unlike Sweden and Norway, Denmark gets very little snow. November is a great time to visit, because the crowds of tourists won't be there.

I lived and studied in Denmark for a fall semester, and I loved being there! The shopping, food, sites and especially the people are wonderful! The Christmas season at the Tivoli gardens runs from Nov. 11 to the end of December, and Tivoli is a magical place. There are beautiful castles and great museums to visit. I wish more travellers would give Denmark a try!

mnapoli: not to hijack the thread but just a comment. My neice left for Copenhagen day before yesterday and will be in school there for the next 9 months. Her parents and I are planning to visit the first part of next year and will go to Sweden also, so I'm glad to hear how much you liked it. I'm starting research now.

I hope your neice enjoys it as much as I did. It was truly a life changing experience. I wish more travellers, Americans in particular, would experience how wonderful Denmark really is.
