Delta Business Elite -- What's it like?

Will be flying Delta to Europe from the U.S. in Business Elite. I recently flew to Thailand in United's One-Suite -- it was incredible. A once-in-a-life-time experience (at least for me). I would be interested to know how them compare -- seat comfort, movie screen, etc. Thanks.

We are flying to Itlay this summer and through our Amex miles are able to take advantage of Bus. Elite. If you go on Delta's website you can take a tour of the business elite cabin and it details all the amenities. You also need to know what kind of plane you'll be flying to know which to look at - i.e., 777, 767, etc...

Its outstanding!

My wife and I have flown Delta business elite about 6 or 7 times.

The seats provide so much room that I (6:3)could not touch the seat in front of me even when fully reclined. The seats are wide and have all the extras, individual lamp, headsets, DVD set, and numerous adjustments

The food choices are outstanding, filet mignon, grilled seabass and all the trimmings.

The wine selection (Vinum is what they call it)is outstanding.

I think you'll find it to be a very good experience.

US

We normally fly sardine class, but were upgraded to business elite on a Madrid to Atlanta flight 2 weeks ago. It was incredible. You could actually stand up in front of your seat with more than ample room to move around if you were sick of sitting. Then there were the infinite seat adjustments. but, alas, I still could not sleep even with the reclining seat.

In the past few years we have had the opportunity to fly Delta's Business Elite a few times and found them to be OK. However, this coming Friday (the 4th) we will be on Continental's Business First's flight to Paris. This will be our 6th trip to Europe this year and have all been with Continental so far this year. Their service is by far superior to Delta's. If you have your choice, do fly Continental's Business First!

Thank you for your responses. We are flying Delta with our frequent flyer points. Unfortunately, I waited too long to book -- just two weeks ago for fall. We are being routed LA to Salt Lake City to Chicago to Paris. At least coming home from Venice (our destination after five nights in Paris) we have only two stops (Paris and Cincinatti). This is the best they were able to do after an hour and a half on the phone looking at all the options, even with flexible dates. A bummer as there are two non-stops daily on Air France from LAX to CDG.

I am concerned about three flights to CDG knowing that the airlines are having such difficulties and are canceling flights. Guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed.

Thanks again.

I just booked Bus Elite for May-June about 3 weeks ago for atl-munich, munich-cvg, cvg-atl. Trips are over a period of 3 weeks. We used the layover option rather then the open jaw. Some things I found out are: 1. have them wait list you if there is a better connection, 2. all agents that deal with FF reservations are not the same.
One day I called 3 times and told there was nothing. I hung up from the 3rd call and used the partner airline option and had reservations on (Delta not a partner) in about 20 min. I was told by a reservation agent the partner airline agents are the most experienced. I was wait listed for Business Elite on one flight it cleared 10 days later. I just priced our tickets at $7500 each. Good return on 80,000 miles.

Luvto travel: Try calling delta, push the prompt for reward travel, then international, then push for one of Delta's partners...we were scheduled with 3 stops to go to Paris on Delta first and business. I then had this idea to try one of their partners thru Delta's phone#, and we wouod be able to fly directly from Miami, and they just happened to have 2 seats open up on Air France. We do have to pay a $100/per ticket changing fee, but it is worth it not to have to travel all day just to get out of the US.

It's fantastic!! The food/wine/service are great. The seat is very comfortable. Julies, I feel your pain; I can't sleep either, even in Business Elite.
I feel your pain ~ however, there is relief and it is called Ambien. Been many post about this wonder drug. Never could sleep ~ now sleep like the teenagers.

We flying Delta Business Elite about one or twice a year ~ also using AMEX miles. So nice ~ take advantage of the clubs ~ unless your reservation is changed, you will need it.

I plan my trips way too early ~ I call Delta 332 days and 23 hours before they can take reservations. That is the first hour first minute in central time.

Have a nice trip.

Always fly Delta Business Elite with FF miles. I think it is great, but it would be better if the seat laid all the way down. My daughter tells me Continental is even better, but I never can get a FF seat on Continental or it doesn't fly to a hub I want to go to in Europe. I think Continental flys more 777s.

Just flew Delta Biz Elite (JFK-Rome) on a 767-300 - it was great. While the seats are not "sleeper" seats like on BA, they do do recline enough and the leg rests go up enough that i was able to sleep on my side quite comfortably (and i RARELY sleep on planes - although it could have been all the champagne i drank). The food, believe it or not, was restuarant quality - we had lobster! And the made-to-order ice cream sundaes are a great treat. While the 767 is not a 747 or a 777 by any stretch of the imagination - it certainly feels like one in the BE cabin. Enjoy! FYI - Delta flies the 777's out of their hub in Atlanta.

Any recent details? I'm curious as to whether I nedd to bring along my usual plane survival items--slippers, eyeshade, good neck pillow, nicer thin blanket, etc. It's been ages since I've sat anywhere other than coach and I have no idea what to expect !

Recently flew Air France business elite, had high hopes. It was pretty awful. The seat cushion, back and head rest were as hard as a rock, leg room was no more than in Delta coach. Food was so-so and movie selection was awful. Have flown Delta Bus Elite many times and it is better hands down.

luvtotravel,

do make sure you get on a flight operated by Delta- and not on one of their codeshare partners as European airlines mostly do not feature as much comfort in Business Class as their US counterparts!

AlexA,
I just flew Business Elite coming over to LGW last Sunday and will be returning Monday. I usually fly Economy Class and this was a first for me.

It is wonderful. Delta provided the kit with socks, eye shade, tooth brush and paste, hand lotion, lip balm, ear plugs. Nice little pillow (much nicer -- about 1 1/2 to 2 times as large as the one in Economy class) and the blanket was almost too warm for me -- I would rather have had the lighter one I'm used to in Economy (I kept getting too warm and kicking it off). The seats recline nicely as someone above described. If you're also used to flying economy, you'll be very happy with the Business Elite.

Oh yes, the food was great too.

Thanks, carrolldf!
I was afraid my question got lost
piggy-backing onto this old question!
Nice to know there are a couple of things I can eliminate from my tiny carry-on bag.
Now if you tell me that the magazines on board are great...
