Daytrips from Frankfurt
We are stopping over in Frankfurt for a day (5 am to 5 pm)en route to Munich. I would appreciate some suggestions about daytrips around Frankfurt. We will be in Frankfurt in March and we are travelling with a baby (nine months old).

I have read (since posting this message) the negative replies on some of the similar questions posted previously. I would appreciate constructive advice. I am not planning on dragging a screaming child through museums or taking my child to fancy restaurants, just to have a good time with my husband and my child.

Hi Christine,
I think the city of Frankfurt itself is not so special for sightseeing.Because you are travelling with a baby I would suggest a visit of the beautiful town of Heidelberg! This is very convenient, because you can take the ICE-train at about 6:53a.m. from the Airport to Mannheim and than change the train to Heidelberg. You will arrive at about 7:45 a.m. Take a taxi to a nice cafe in the old city to enjoy Breakfast before visiting the castle. I would suggest maybe a daytime room in a hotel just in case the baby is tired! From Heidelberg you can again take the train at 3 p.m. arriving at 4 p.m at the airport (trains go hourly)

One day 12 hours...
1) Rent car drive the Rhine River to Koblenz via Assmanshausen(?)...cross river @ Koblenz and return via St.Goar...nice easy driving...castles and wine vineyards along the way..
2)Hop cab downtown and cruise the Zeil, which is the main shopping/walking street. Do some shopping have a nice breakfast and lunch and just chill and kick back..
