Daytrip from London to Althorp
In looking at the Althorp website, it looks like it is located 7 miles from the train station. I'm assuming we could take a taxi to the estate, but was wondering how we would get back to the train station. I'm assuming Althorp is on a country road where we wouldn't just be able to hail a taxi.
Is there a local bus service? Has anyone done this tour on their own (not with a tour company?) How did you actually get to/from the train or bus station?
(We are planning this for next September.)
Thanks!

Though I haven't been to Althorp myself (but it's first on my list for next time I get to England), I'm sure if you choose to arrive by taxi, that someone there can call you a taxi when you leave. We did this when my elderly mom and I visited Scone Palace outside Perth, Scotland. The taxi driver who took us there gave us his card and the lady who sold us our ticket at the entrance called him for us when we left. There's also a day tour from London by Golden Tours if you want to go that route.

Kayb95: Are you still wondering about how to get to Althorp?
There are scheduled shuttle buses from Northampton station to Althorp - at least 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. No need to take a taxi.
