Still working on my Scotland itinerary but need to know when (approximately) the sun sets in the Highlands during the last two weeks in September. It doesn't make sense to be travelling after dark.

The sun sets everywhere in the world around 6pm natural local time at the autumn equinox (September 22).

British Summer Time is one hour ahead of natural local time, and remains in force until the end of October. So by the end of September, the sun will set shortly before 7 pm.

It's before and after late September that Scotland's short winter, and long summer, days become an issue.

The info from flanneruk is scientifically accurate though (for reasons that I cannot explain), the "true" posted sunrise/sunset times are identical on Sep 25, not Sep 22. Checking even further north (Reykjavik, for example) confirms that 12 hrs day and 12 hrs night occurs on that date. One contrast from Scotland is that Iceland does not observe daylight savings time.
