Day trips from Zurich

Does anyone have suggestions for places to spend the day outside of Zurich? We will be traveling to Switzerland in mid- July, and have a three day commitment there. This is my first trip to Switzerland!

amie, This topic was addressed awhile back and can probably be found in the archives. My contribution was the Rheinfalls and the town of Regensberg, the falls for the sheer power and beauty and Regensberg for the timbered houses. If you're driving you might also look up a permit you must have to drive the autobahns.

Thanks for all the great ideas! Lugano sounds intriguing! Any thoughts on good restaurants by the lake?
