Day trips from Dromoland Castle area

We are spending our last night in Ireland at Dromoland Castle and will have a full day to sightsee. Any ideas/suggestions for day trips from this area? Thanks!
It will depend on what you have already seen, but you have several choices. We did the drive up to Lahinch and then up to the Cliffs of Moher and back, no problem for one day. You could go up to the Burren too if you didn't spend too much time on the Cliffs or if they were closed due to fog. In the other direction you could go down to Bunratty and do the banquet (which we didn't care for, too crowded) or visit the folk thing, forgot the name of it. You will LOVE Dromoland. Make reservations for dinner there and it will be a special meal. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service too. Definitely worth the price. Have a great time.

You may not want to stay away from the hotel for long, it is so beautiful there and you could do a lot of walking around the grounds. Line the above poster said about 1/2 hr. away is Bunratty Castle & some shops. I suggest dinner at the hotel too = ) Jacket required and an excellent way to end your vacation. Have fun!

Thanks you guys for the information! I've read in different postings that the dinner at Dromoland is wonderful, so we're definately going to make reservations for that.
I agree with nmm. There is a lot to do at the Castle and you should take advantage of the grounds! That said, if you haven't seen the Cliffs of Moher or the Burren, those are worthwhile sites and easily traveled to from the Castle.
